Plankton forms the foundation of material cycling and energy flow in marine food webs, and its species composition and community structure are critical for understanding ecosystem dynamics in specific marine regions. Zooplankton is a vital component of marine biota. As a central link in the marine food web, it regulates phytoplankton biomass at lower trophic levels and influences the population sizes of high-trophic-level organisms such as fish, birds and marine mammals at upper levels. Therefore, research on zooplankton is a key focus of marine biodiversity and resource assessment studies. Additionally, zooplankton serves as an ideal indicator species for investigating the impacts and feedbacks of global change on marine ecosystems. Conducting zooplankton surveys in the Southern Ocean is of great significance for clarifying biodiversity change trends, their responses and feedbacks to environmental changes, and evaluating the potential impacts on biological resource utilization. This dataset is derived from the microphytoplankton survey conducted during the 33rd Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition. The data includes sampling station details, longitude, latitude, water depth, phytoplankton species and concentrations, among other metrics.
