The Natural Sensitive Spaces of the Gard — Priorities for Department intervention

The purpose of the NSE inventory is to provide the Department with sufficiently comprehensive information on its territory, but also to be a decision-making tool. To do this, a hierarchisation of the 140 selected sites has been established. Thus, a multi-criteria grid was used to divide the sites into three categories of intervention: priority Departmental/Departmental/Local. The Department has a truly leading role in the protection, management and valorisation of NSEs and implements it on the land side. This policy began in 1985 and allowed the purchase of 3700 hectares.
