Fourteen stratigraphic samples were examined for phytoliths from Gattling
Creek Bog to assist in defining past vegetation of this bog. The pollen record
suffered from poor preservation, so only four pollen samples were selected for
preliminary examination. A radiocarbon age collected near the base of the core
provides a basal date of 5910 radiocarbon years BP.
