This study investigated the effects of accumulated persistent organic pollutants, 4,4'-Diisoisopropylbiphenyl (DIPB) and Ethyltetradecanoate (ETD), on human adipose tissue function. Using RNA sequencing, gene expression profiles were analyzed in samples from the Leipzig Obesity Biobank (LOBB). The analysis compared individuals (N = 43) with detectable levels of DIPB and ETD in their adipose tissue to matched controls with undetectable levels, focusing on both subcutaneous (SAT) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT). The study also examined sex-specific differences in these associations.
