资源简介:
Pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted on samples taken from
six sites along the Frontier Pipeline in southwestern Wyoming. These sites
are located in Uinta, Sweetwater, and Fremont Counties, and were sampled
during the process of archaeological mitigation. Radiocarbon dates place
the occupation of two sites between 1250+50 and 1880+90. A third site
yielded dates ranging between 2560+60 and 7520+90, indicating repeated
utilization of the area over thousands of years. Pollen and macrofloral
samples were taken at these sites to evaluate the paleoenvironment at the
time of occupation and the vegetal portion of the subsistence base. All of
the sites sampled contained hearths or roasting pits, which were the primary
features sampled. The macrofloral samples were taken exclusively from these
features, while the pollen samples represent both features and stratigraphic
situations.
