资源简介:
Northern environments are some of the most sensitive to a changing climate. Lake Hazen is one of Canadas largest freshwater lakes in the high arctic, and is currently experiencing changes due to a warming climate. As part of a larger collaborative project that uses the Lake Hazen Watershed as a sentinel of climate change, our research seeks to understand the importance and role of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) within high-arctic environments. Specifically, our research looks at the quantity, quality, and age of DOC from different glacial and terrestrial sources into Lake Hazen. Furthermore, we determine how DOC quality and quantity change along a glacial river continuum and terrestrial subcatchment (from a permafrost seep, through a wetland, into a lake, and eventually to the creek outflow).
