VPRS 10346 Miner's Accident Relief Register of Paymentsf

Sections 74 78 of the Coal Mines Regulation Act 1909 provided for the establishment and funding of the Victorian Coal Miners Accidents Relief Fund. Contributions were to be made by mine owners, by miners and by the Consolidated revenue which were to be administered by the Accidents Committee at each mine. This Committee could grant allowances in the case of accidents.This series records the receipts and payments related to this fund as administered by the Accidents Committee at the State Coal Mine, Wonthaggi. The volume has printed that it was for recording payments for the Miners Accident Relief Fund under the provisions of the Coal Mines Regulation Act 1909. It is a Cash Book with receipts being recorded on the lefthand side of a double folio and disbursements on the righthand side. Entries are few for receipts with a larger sum being entered at periodic intervals. For each time period there are a number of disbursements with name, cheque number and amount being given.
