Keswick River Water Quality Monitoring

The Keswick River Society conducts monthly water quality sampling at 10 locations throughout the watershed. • KRS field staff carry a GPS and take samples at the same location each time; • Field indicators (weather, bank stability, etc.) are recorded; • Physical parameters of the water including temperature, TDS, conductivity, and pH were are measured using a YSI meter. • Grab samples of the water are taken while wading; • Samples are sent to RPC and analysed for a full suite of metals, anions, nutrients, bacteria, physical parameters, etc.; • The data is shared with the provincial government for inclusion on the water quality data portal.
