### Access Dataset and extensive metadata can be accessed and downloaded via: [hthttps://arcticdata.io/data/10.18739/A27M04241/](https://arcticdata.io/data/10.18739/A27M04241/) ### Overview This dataset contains photos and associated metadata collected through the Fresh Eyes on Ice 'Ice Observer' webtool (https://feoi.shinyapps.io/PhotoPortal/) from 2019 to 2025. Observations are photographs submitted by community members, scientists, teachers, ice fishers, snowmachiners, and others to provide an aggregation of ice conditions around the state of Alaska. Photographs have no guidelines other than pertaining to local ice conditions. Some examples of types of observations would be start of freeze up processes, open water conditions, overflow, and breakup conditions. Photographs can be accessed through the map based exploration tool as well as being directly sent via email to Fresh Eyes on Ice team members and the National Weather Service Alaska Pacific River Forecast Center.
