资源简介:

This map tool is intended for use by public and private partners in conducting water partnership outreach in California.

The main layer, California Drinking Water Systems, aggregates multiple sources of location data for water systems in California, including state small water systems. The SAFER Engagement Unit at the Division of Drinking Water supports the Human Right to Water (AB685) in order to ensure that all Californian's have safe, clean, affordable, and accessible water adequate for human consumption, cooking, and sanitary purposes. This layer is used for planning consolidations between water systems, domestic well consolidations to create water systems in under-developed areas, and regional projects. The data used to generate locations for the water systems in this layer include:

The System Area Boundary Layer (SABL), publicly available. SABL is the geodatabase of record for public drinking water system service areas and jurisdictional areas.. The polygon service area locations are verified as the best available data and include over 4,000 water systems.

Some mostly small non-community public water systems do not yet have a boundary in the SABL dataset. These system locations have been geocoded from their Physical Locations or plotted with latitude and longitude based on sources. Eventually these systems will be captured in SABL. Not all systems have locational data valid for mapping.

State Small Water Systems (SSWS) are non-public water systems that are regulated by County health officials in partnership with the State Water Board. These systems have been geocoded from their Physical Locations using the most recent County-provided data, with light data cleaning. Eventually, these systems may be found in SABL. Counties have regulatory oversight over SSWS, thus the Division of Drinking Water's records are incomplete.

Field Definitions:

Water System Number - The Public Water System ID (PWSID), an identifier assigned by the state.

Water System Name - Name of the water system.

System Type - State classification of a system. Options here include Community, Non-Transient Non-Community, Transient Non-Community, and State Small Water Systems.

County - The principal county served by the identified system.

Regulating Agency - The agency responsible for regulating the system(s) involved.

Connections - Number of physical connections to a water systems distribution infrastructure.

Population - Number of persons served by a water system.

Owner Type - Most California water systems are privately owned and operated. Other Owner Type options include Federal Govt, State Govt, Local Govt, Mixed ownership, and Native/Tribal ownership.

Service Area - The regulating agency's description/classification of the type of water system users. The available options for service area type are a mix of broad and very specific service area types, from "Residential Area" to "Highway Rest Stop".

Primary Water Source - Description code for the primary source of the water system (SW/SWP = Surface Water; GW/GWP = Groundwater; GU = Groundwater Under the direct influence of surface water)

CPUC Regulated - Yes or No. Yes identifies investor-owned water systems that are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission

Controlling Entity - If applicable, identifies the name of the larger water service entity that has managerial control over a water system.

SAFER Status (PWS) or Aquifer Risk Status (SSWS) - This field is a combination of data points

For public Water Systems, 'SAFER Status' includes systems that are Failing according to Human Right to Water critieria, and systems assessed for risk in the annual DDW Needs Assessment.

For state small water systems, localized 'Aquifer Risk' is calculated annually based on groundwater monitoring

Administrative Contact - Contact information for water system's main administrative contact is included (mailing address, email, phone).
