Datasets of livestock methane overestimation due to the omission of antimethanogenic forages (2001–2022)
收藏资源简介:
1. The gridded dataset provides a global 1-km resolution estimate of cattle and sheep enteric methane overestimation attributable to the omission of antimethanogenic forage effects from conventional inventories. The data are expressed as kg CH4 ha-1 yr-1 and were derived by multiplying IPCC Tier 2-based enteric methane emission estimates (kg CH4 ha-1 yr-1) by the availability-weighted forage suppression potential (%). The availability-weighted forage suppression potential represents the potential contribution of naturally occurring antimethanogenic forage species, accounting for their predicted occurrence, local vegetation growth intensity, livestock exposure, and experimentally measured methane suppression efficacy. 2. Records of samples.csv contains a total of 2,697,510 occurrence records for 40 antimethanogenic forage species from 2001 to 2022, including geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude), year and month, and scientific names. 3. Methane emissions of cattle and sheep.xlsx contains the annual enteric methane emissions estimated in this study for 2001–2022, the corresponding annual values adjusted to account for the antimethanogenic effects of forage species, and annual FAOSTAT estimates used for validation. All data include emissions from cattle and sheep only and are reported in Mt CH₄ yr⁻¹. 4. Suppression rate of antimethanogenic species.xlsx contains information on 40 antimethanogenic species, including evidence type, CH₄ reduction (%), and dietary inclusion level (% DM). 5. Model validation.xlsx contains the model performance metrics for the distribution models of 40 antimethanogenic forage species, including mean ROC-AUC (ROC_AUC_mean), mean PR-AUC (PR_AUC_mean), standard deviation of ROC-AUC (ROC_AUC_sd), and standard deviation of PR-AUC (PR_AUC_sd). 6. Sample size.xlsx contains the number of occurrence records for each of the 40 antimethanogenic forage species from 2001 to 2022.
