Intestinal microbiota profiles in Pirc rats

Aim of this study is to investigate if there are differences between Pirc and WT rats in fecal and mucosa-associated microbiota composition and also to study changes of gut microbiota composition during the tumorigenesis in the Pirc animal model. For this purpose, we compared the microbiota profiles both in the feces and in colon mucosa of Pirc and WT rats at two different ages: one month-old, when Pirc colon mucosa is still apparently normal and in older rats (11 months-old), when tumors in Pirc were already formed.
