Profiling the aging transcriptome of the gut wall (longitudinal muscle and myenteric plexus) in mice

These data represent the changing transcriptal profiles of the longitudinal muscle and myenteric plexus (LMMP) of the murine ileum with age. Tissues from 1-month, 6-month, and 17-month old mice were characterized. Overall design: Mice of three ages (1-month, 6-month, and 17-month) and both sexes (n=3 per unique condition; n=2 for 17mo F) were anesthetized with isoflurane and sacrificed by cervical dislocation. The ileum of the small intestine was isolated and flushed followed by peeling of the longitudinal muscle containing myenteric plexus (LMMP) from the underlying tissue. RNA-seq of this tissue was performed to identify factors that define the juvenile or aging myenteric plexus and its local environment.
