Silver nanoparticles are highly toxic for the marine copepod Amphiascoides atopus and promote the dominance of vibrios .The toxicity of Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) was evaluate in seawater bacterial community in a short-term (24 h) toxicity assay; tested concentrations ranged from 0.05 to 0.4 mg/L. A 16S rRNA based metagenomic amplicon fingerprinting approach revealed a effect of AgNPs in bacterial communities, notably promoting Vibrio dominance. Based on a metagenomic shotgun sequencing approach, the AgNPs induced a high dominance of a particular OTU that corresponded to a strain identified as Vibrio coralliilyticus.
