The evolution of blood-derived mRNA in children with intestinal failure associated liver disease treated with intravenous fish oil.

In this study, our goal was to investigate how the blood derived mRNA is associated with various metabolic pathways, that has altered in children with intestinal failure associated liver disease (IFALD) who receive intravenous fish oil (FO) treatment. Total RNA was extracted from blood samples of 4 subjects before and after 6 months of FO treatment following the protocol provided by the PAXgene Blood miRNA kit (763134, Qiagen, Hilden, Germany). To address the low abundance of blood derived RNA, a low input library preparation protocol was carried out.
