EPC 2163 was granted on the 15th of May 2012 to Queensland Coal Investments Pty Ltd, for the exploration of Thermal Coal. EPC 2163 overlies the northern Kilcummin Basin; where two main Permian coal seam packages have been found to occur, including the Coobyanga and Manar Coal Measures.
This EPC consisted of 169 sub blocks.
Throughout the length of the grant Queensland coal Investments Pty Ltd conducted the following activities:
- Drilling,
- Coal quality analysis,
- Geotechnical Testing
- Geochemical Testing
- Seismic surveys,
- Rehabilitation of Bore Holes,
- Palynology studies,
- Geological model and resource estimates, and,
- Desktop studies.
This grant was surrendered on the 6th of June 2023 due to the area being concluded to no longer be viable for further exploration.
