In order to analyze very early symbiotic stages, we set up an approach based upon RNA-seq coupled to laser micro-dissection to analyze gene expression in response to Nod factors (vs. mock treatment) in root epidermis. Only the fraction of the root known to be responsive to Nod factors (about 1 cm-long) was laser-dissected.
