资源简介:
The U.S. Geological Survey measured lakebed and lake-water temperatures to identify areas of groundwater discharge (inflow to the lake) and recharge (outflow from the lake) at Moody Pond, a groundwater flow-through lake, in Mashpee, Massachusetts. The relative temperatures of lakebed sediment and lake water are indicators of the water flux direction across the lake bottom. Lakebed and lake-water temperatures were measured in September when lake-water temperatures were warmer than groundwater temperatures. Measurement points that have significantly colder temperatures in the lakebed than in the lake water indicate groundwater discharging to the lake; whereas, measurement points that have more similar lakebed and lake-water temperatures indicate lake water recharging the groundwater (McCobb and others, 2018). This data release contains the lakebed and lake-water temperatures collected on September 8, 2022 at Moody Pond in both tabular format (a comma-separated values [.csv] file) and as a geospatial dataset (a shapefile contained in Moody_Temp_Shapefile.zip).
