Illauntannig Kerry 2021

Illauntannig is the largest of the Magharee Islands, lying off the northern tip of the Magharee Peninsula spearating Brandon Bay and Tralee Bay. The island is made from limestone formed about 350 million years ago. The Early Christian settlement comprises 2 oratories, 3 bee-hive huts, a souterrrain and wall-chamber, 3 leachts (unmortared stone structure), a burial ground and a stone cross. The island was surveyed by the CHERISH project in May 2021 using a fixed wing Sensefly eBee plus and S.O.D.A. camera flown at 100 m with a ground sampling distance of 2.5 cm.
