Supplementary Materials for 'Wiring the Leviathan: State Capacities and the Political Economy of "Digital Authoritarianism" in Central Asia'

This repository contains the supplementary materials document as well as some of the raw datasets and the scripts for some of the visualizations generated in the 2026 article 'Wiring the Leviathan: State Capacities and the Political Economy of “Digital Authoritarianism” in Central Asia' published in Contemporary Politics. The supplementary materials document descriptive statistical and qualitative data on the case studies of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (including historiographical developments related to information control; fieldwork data, etc). The archive contains the secondary sources used for the visualizations produced in the paper. The list of sources for the file titled '1. State capacities dataset for visualization.xlsx' can be found in the supplementary materials document.
