Dataset of the Study on College Students' Marriage and Childbearing Willingness at Southwest Medical University (2024)

This dataset focuses on the research of marriage and childbearing willingness among college students at Southwest Medical University.Dataset Generation ProcessData were collected via an online survey through the Wenjuanxing platform, using a cluster sampling method targeting students at Southwest Medical University. The survey participants covered student groups with multi-dimensional characteristics, including different genders, ages, medical student status (whether they are medical students), departments, household registration types, and ethnicities. This multi-dimensional sampling was designed to comprehensively understand college students' attitudes, experiences, and willingness related to marriage and childbearing.Data Processing Methods/StepsAfter data collection, questionnaire information was exported to a spreadsheet to form raw data. Subsequent preliminary data cleaning was conducted, which involved checking and correcting obvious data entry errors to ensure data consistency and accuracy. As indicated by the data output, there is no missing data in the dataset—any potential missing data was handled by exclusion during the data entry process.Equipment and Tools UsedDuring the data collection phase, electronic questionnaires were deployed via the Wenjuanxing online survey platform. Computers were used for data entry, while common data processing software (e.g., Excel) was utilized for data storage and preliminary processing. The final dataset was organized into the current Excel file format (.xlsx).Temporal and Spatial InformationData collection was conducted from September 2023 to August 2024. The spatial scope is clearly defined as Southwest Medical University. There are no relevant concepts of temporal or spatial resolution applicable to this dataset.Tabular Data InformationThe tabular data contains 1,275 samples. Row labels represent the record ID of each surveyed student, and there are 56 column labels in total, with the following meanings:Basic Information Category: Includes variables such as gender, age, medical student status, department, and household registration type, which describe the basic identity characteristics of the students.Family Background Category: Covers variables like father’s education level, mother’s education level, living expenses, family economic status, family composition, and parents’ relationship status, reflecting the students’ family environment.Psychological and Related Scale Score Category: Comprises variables including Total Score of Internet Addiction (B), Stress Scale Score (C), Total Score of Social Support, and Self-Efficacy Score (E), which reflect the students’ conditions across different psychological dimensions.Love and Marriage-Childbearing Willingness Category: Includes variables such as number of past romantic relationships, relationship status, willingness to marry, and willingness to have children—these are the core contents of this study, focusing on students’ marriage and childbearing willingness.Others: The Social Class Score, which is used to comprehensively quantify the family social class of each student sample. No units of measurement are applicable to this dataset.Data Missing StatusThere is no missing data in the dataset.Data Error StatusPotential sources of error include respondents’ subjective reluctance to provide true information, inaccurate information caused by recall bias, and misunderstandings among respondents due to unclear wording of some questions in the questionnaire design. However, every effort has been made to correct obvious errors during the data processing phase.
