The main aim of the African BioGenome Project, the Nelson Mandela genomes initiative for conservation of nature is to understand the genetic basis of African cultural and economically significant animals and plants genetic resources through building genomics capabilities for use to develop solutions to address issues aligned with food security, biodiversity conservation, biotechnology, and medicinal purposes.
