资源简介:
This dataset lists the villages involved in the REACT project (Insecticide resistance management in Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire: research on vector control strategies). Led by three scientific institutions – the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD, France), the Institut de Recherche en Science de la Santé (IRSS, Burkina Faso), and the Institut Pierre Richet (IPR, Côte d’Ivoire) – between 2016 ans 2018, the REACT project aimed to assess whether the addition of complementary vector control strategies to long-lasting insecticidal nets reduces malaria transmission and provides additional protection against malaria in rural areas with a high level of insecticide-resistant vectors. The aforementioned areas were those of Diébougou, southwestern Burkina Faso and Korhogo, northern Côte d'Ivoire. Towards this aim, several villages were selected in each area (27 in the Diébougou area and 28 in the Korhogo area) at the beginning of the project according to the following criteria: accessibility during the rainy season, 200 to 500 inhabitants per village, and distance between villages greater than 2 km. Various data (entomological, epidemiological, human behavioural, etc.) were then collected in these villages during the 2 years-long field phase of the project. This dataset lists the villages involved in the project and provides a set of useful information for each of them: geographic coordinates, population, type of vector control intervention deployed in the context of the project, name of the health center the village is depending on, and distance (euclidian and real) to such health center. This information may be useful for future use of the data that were collected in these villages during the project and subsequently opened (see metadata for the references of the main datasets).
