Profiling of Genome Sequence in Salivary Gland Cancer. Homo sapiens

Malignant salivary gland carcinomas are rare cancers, and those characteristics are heterogeneous among 24 distinct malignant histotypes recognized in the 4th edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of salivary gland tumors (2017). Recent molecular genetic analysis has identified recurring translocations in some salivary gland cancers, including adenoid cystic carcinoma (MYB-NFIB), mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MECT1-MAML2), and secretory carcinoma (ETV6-NTRK3). However, little is known about the molecular pathogenesis of the majority of salivary gland cancers. In this project, we perform a molecular genetic profiling of patients with salivary gland cancers to reveal unknown molecular pathogenesis and develop a novel molecular targeted therapy.
