Hemolytic E. coli are important pathogens in neonatal and weaned pigs. In this study, 95 hemolytic E. coli were isolated from intestinal contents or fecal samples of diarrheic piglets in 13 states of the U.S. between 2013 and 2014. WGS was applied to analysis the antibiotic resistance genes and virulence genes. We aim to utilize the WGS to raise epidemiologic hypothese and questions, and provide guidance for prevention and control of hemolytic E. coli in pig industry.
