资源简介:
The Northern Gulf region is vast, 196,000 km2 with a sparse, widely dispersed population. The region’s people (25% Indigenous) also suffer significant socio-economic disadvantage compared to other areas in Australia (ABS data) and historically, due to the small population size, remoteness, and inaccessibility during the wet season, the region has not been well-serviced by government agencies.
The sub-project will provide additional support to NGRMG in order to meet the regional NRM organisation governance standards under the National Landcare Programme. A community and Indigenous communication and engagement strategy will be developed to meet the changed/changing needs particularly of Indigenous groups across the region.
An independent telephone survey will be undertaken of 10% of households in the region to review and monitor performance and assist in determining community priorities.
The capacity to deliver easily accessible information to individuals and the broader community through the use of a range of media (particularly social media) will be improved.
The governance performance of NGRMG will be benchmarked in line with the organisational performance benchmarks undertaken by other Qld regional NRM bodies and recommendations for improvement implemented.
