This project provided assembly and annotation of Arabidopsis lyrata ssp. petraea for a bigger study on polymorphisms in Arabidopsis kamchatica. The latter is an allotetraploid whose parents are A. lyrata ssp. petraea and A. halleri. Since the direct assembly of polyploid genomes is challenging, we assembled and annotated the genomes of A. kamchatica's parents and used them as a proxy for the polyploid's genome. Our main goal was to quantify the strength of selection by resequencing a range-wide selection of A. kamchatica lines, sorting the reads by parental origin, and calling polymorphisms using the assembled parental genomes.
