World Ocean Circulation Experiment Global Data V3.0 Satellite Sea Surface Temperature

The World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) was a part of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) which used resources from nearly 30 countries to make unprecedented in-situ and satellite observations of the global ocean between 1990 and 1998 and to observe poorly-understood but important physical processes.
This dataset provides gridded sea surface temperature data over the global oceans. The data were derived from the 5-channel Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) instrument on board the NOAA -7, -9, -11 and -14 polar orbiting satellites. Two types of grids are included: 1) 0.5-degree, 5-day binned; and 2) 1.0-degree, 5-day interpolated. Data cover the period from January 1990 through December 2001.
