Historic State-of-Incorporation Data 1994-2019 (data and EDGAR scraping R script)

This data set contains (1) commented R markdown script to scrape the SEC's EDGAR database for historic incorporation information for all publicly traded stock of U.S. corporations, (2) helper files used by the script (5 R functions and a file of manual corrections), and (3) the csv output of this code up to summer 2019 (coverage begins in 1994 and is complete by 1996). It also contains a cross-walk of CIK (the SEC's identifier) to CUSIP (the Compustat/CRSP identifier) for securities missing a CIK in the Compustat/CRSP Merged data base.
