Aluminum (Al) stress on acid soil severely inhibits root growth. Transcript level changes in response to Al stress regulate Al tolerance mechanisms for the maintenance of root growth. On the other hand, Arabidopsis accessions show natural variation in Al tolerance based on an expression level polymorphism. To identify the Al-tolerance genes controlling natural variation of Al tolerance in Arabidopsis accessions, we conducted whole transcriptome analysis of Al-treated roots by RNA-seq. Transcriptome analysis was performed in 28 accessions from the 1001 Genomes Project collection for Arabidopsis including Al tolerant accessions and sensitive accessions, which was delivered from our GWAS. We analyzed differential gene expression between tolerant and sensitive accessions.
