资源简介:
This study is part of the European H2020-MSCA ‘ASTRA’ Project: Applying Sustainability Transition Research in Social Work to tackle major societal challenges, particularly social inclusion.
It examines the role of non-profit organisations in facilitating citizen participation in integrated urban regeneration programmes for disadvantaged neighbourhoods. The research focuses on the shift towards participatory governance in urban development and the challenges of fostering meaningful citizen involvement in marginalised areas. It also explores how civil-society organisations act as intermediaries, bridging participation gaps by mediating between the state and citizens.
Using a qualitative case study methodology, the research investigates the case of Brussels (Belgium). It analyses the contributions of nine non-profit organisations to citizen involvement in neighbourhood plans. The dataset comprises:• 20 interviews with stakeholders, including staff from nine non-profits, their coordinating network, the regional administration for urban regeneration, municipal administrations from two municipalities, and architecture/urbanism studios;• 21 documents from non-profits (e.g., activity reports, presentations, publications, and webpages);• 8 urban regeneration programme documents from two municipalities in Brussels.
The interviews were conducted between 2021 and 2025 from the corresponding author. The languages of the interview were French and English. The collected documents were published between 2020 and 2023. The language of all documents is French.
