Fetal and trophoblast PI3K p110alpha have distinct roles in regulating resource supply to the growing fetus

Using RNA-seq we identified several genes downstream of p110alpha in the trophoblast that are important in adapting placental phenotype to support fetal growth. This was achieved by comparing the transcriptomes of 5 Het-U (heterozygous deficient in p110alpha in both fetal and trophoblast lineages) and 4 Hom-P (heterozygous deficient in p110alpha in fetal lineage and homozygous deficient in p110alpha in trophoblast) placentas at day 19 of pregnancy.本研究通过RNA测序（RNA-seq）技术，在滋养层（trophoblast）中鉴定出p110alpha（p110alpha）下游的多个基因，这些基因在调整胎盘表型以支持胎儿生长的过程中发挥重要作用。上述基因的鉴定工作，通过比较妊娠第19天的5例Het-U组（胎儿与滋养层谱系均存在p110alpha杂合缺陷）与4例Hom-P组（胎儿谱系存在p110alpha杂合缺陷、滋养层谱系存在p110alpha纯合缺陷）的胎盘转录组完成。
