Mapbox Geocoding & Analysis Tools

New: Understand travel times and accessibility by multiple transportaion methods using new distance_and_duration & isochrone functions!

Forward and Reverse Geocoding:
- Perform forward and reverse geocoding of addresses and places using simple SQL statements.
- Validate and standardize addresses + convert them into geographic coordinates.
- Convert GPS coordinates from IOT devices or vehicles into human-understandable & analyzable locations
- Enable data aggregation to calculate drive times between addresses or get inputs for traveling salesman problem

Distance & duration:
- Improve on crows-fly calculations to get accurate travel times and distances
- Understand the real cost of planned or past routes
- Calculate CO2 impact of different potential routes

Isochrones
- Assess network adequacy based on customer travel distance to service locations
- Preform retail site selection based on travel distance to key customer segments
- Identify competitors within a certain travel distance of existing location

Geospatial Analysis
- Transform your data into coordinates or addresses, then bucket and slice by administrative boundary like county, state and postcode

Data Enrichment
- Conduct point-in-polygon lookups for enterprise boundaries using longitude/latitude data across various types at Mapbox Boundaries https://www.mapbox.com/boundaries

Note that forward and reverse geocoding leverage Mapbox's services which are located outside of your Snowflake infrastructure. Geocoding logs on the Mapbox side are retained for 30 days for debugging purposes only.
