In this study we used both Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies to determine how recombinant virus populations evolve over time. Recombinant polioviruses #105B and #PV3-105B, containing sequence duplications, were passaged in cell culture until genomes were resolved to wild type virus length. We aimed to understand the mechanism underpinning the resolution of viruses to wild type length using Illumina and Oxford Nanopore deep sequencing of the virus and RNA population.
