Influence of dissolved silica on molybdenum ion pairing with sodium in hydrothermal fluids

This project aims to improve our knowledge about the molybdenum speciation in hydrothermal fluids responsible for ore deposit formation. These new data will be obtained using in-situ XAS to study the (hydrogen)molybdate ion pairing with sodium and silicon and coupled with thermodynamic models, to determine their stability and solubility in aqueous fluids under a wide range of temperatures, pressures, pH, and fO2. The results obtained in this proposal are indispensable for the rigorous interpretation and valorization of our previous XAS measurements at BM30 (ES1050).
