Religion and Climate Change in the Netherlands: A Taxonomic Dataset

This dataset provides a taxonomy of religious and secular language used in climate change discussions on Dutch social media platforms. The taxonomy was developed through a qualitative analysis of content from platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, collected between March 1, 2023, and October 1, 2023. It categorizes terms and themes into areas such as belief systems, rituals, symbols, moral principles, and apocalyptic narratives. The dataset aims to support research on the role of religious language in environmental discourse, offering a structured resource for understanding how these vocabularies are used in public and institutional communication in the Netherlands.
