资源简介:

Source code and other relevant information used to generate the simulation results presented in Prem et al. (2026), Modeling the Delivery of Mercury's Polar Ice by a Volatile-Rich Impact (JGR: Planets). The readme.txt file in this repository highlights portions of the source code (source_code.zip) that are most relevant to this work. This is a modified version of the PLANET DSMC code, developed by former and current members of the Computational Fluid Physics Lab (CFPL) at the University of Texas at Austin. While the code does not yet have a comprehensive user manual, the underlying physics and computational methods are documented in past dissertations and publications hosted on the CFPL website (https://cfpl.ae.utexas.edu/). Simulations were performed on the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center's Bridges2 supercomputer through an NSF ACCESS (Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem) allocation. The 'psr model details' file contains additional information on how Mercury's permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) were modeled in this work, and the 'simulation parameters' file contains additional information regarding the computational grid and other parameters. Data required to reproduce published figures is in figures_data.zip, together with a readme file.
