Taxonomic and functional database of arthropod assemblages in a swine production system (Zavalla, Santa Fe, Argentina)
收藏资源简介:
Abstract: This dataset provides a comprehensive inventory of arthropod communities monitored across five different environments within a Swine Production Module at the "J.F. Villarino" Experimental Farm (Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, Universidad Nacional de Rosario). Data were collected during the winter and spring seasons of 2019. The primary objective was to characterize fly fauna (Diptera) and associated arthropod assembly structures to assess potential sanitary risks and evaluate sustainable control methods for intensive livestock systems. Usage Note: This dataset supports the findings presented in the Specialization Thesis in Sustainable Animal Production by Natalia G. Budai (Agr. Eng.). Data Structure: The dataset is organized into two primary matrices corresponding to sampling methods: 1. Arthropod Matrix - Baited Traps (Sheet 1): Includes 48 species/morphospecies captured using protein-baited traps (fermented meat and bone meal). 2. Arthropod Matrix - Pan Traps (Sheet 2): Includes 122 species/morphospecies captured using standardized yellow chromatic traps. Metadata Fields Taxonomic Hierarchy: Class, Order, and Family. Specific Identity: Scientific name or Morphospecies ID (Recognizable Taxonomic Unit - RTU). The notation "cf." indicates that determination requires further specialist confirmation. Ontogenetic Stage: Life stage at capture (A = Adult, L = Larva). Functional Traits (Trophic Groups): Ants (ANT), Detritivores (DET), Hematophagous (HEM), Herbivores (HER), Pollen/Nectar feeders (P&N), Parasitoids (PAR), and Predators (PRE). Abundance Data: Total counts per environment: Gestation (GES), Maternity (MAT), Nursery (NUR), Growing (GRO), and Finishing (FIN). Sampling Methodology: Four replicates per environment were deployed for 4 consecutive days per season. Taxonomic identification was performed using regional keys and verified by specialists where possible.
