The hospital plan is an instrument with which the Free State of Bavaria - determines the specific need for capacity to provide full- and part-inpatient hospital treatment; and - determines which hospitals are necessary for the needs-based care of the population and are thus funded according to the KHG/BayKrG. Hospitals are divided into: Planned hospitals of care levels 1, 2 and 3, specialist hospitals, university hospitals and contract hospitals.
