Interview Instruments for Next Generation Scenarios and Scenario-based Planning to Motivate Mitigation

The Next Generation Scenarios project is an applied research project seeking to advance the practice of developing and using scenarios to motivate, guide and support the mitigation of risks from geologic hazards. Research included 158 semi-structured interviews of scenario users, potential users, and developers across four sites: Ecuador, Nepal, New Zealand and the U.S. state of California. Past scenarios of geologic hazard events, and literature in related fields, were collected and reviewed. Based on the findings, a series of guidance documents for practitioners were prepared and are available from GeoHazards International at www.geohaz.org.
