NRS-16660 | Indexes to Rate and Ledger books [Leichhardt Council]

This series was created to cross-reference the Municipality’s Rate books and Ledger books. The Indices to Rate books were created to record the residential address of owners of properties within the Municipality, whilst the Indices to Ledger books were used to locate information via subject.Each volume in this series is for a given Ward for a nominated year. Each volume is divided into alphabetical sections. Each section contains handwritten entries with the following information: surname of owner (usually with first name or initial), place of residence, and rate book entry number(s). The final volume of this series is an index to a ledger book of unknown year that has not survived. The index is divided alphabetically, but entries record subject and folio number.
