This is the complete dataset for a study which aimed to investigation nanoscale scratching on copper with conical tools using Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics simulation. The dataset comprises a number of related data sub-sets as follows: 1) Comparison of experimental data (taken from Applied Mathematical Modelling, 2012, 36(11), 5589-5602) and simulated forces for 100 nm, 150 nm and 200 nm scratching depths with a 60 degree negative rake angle tool. 2) Comparison of groove cross-sectional profiles between experimental data (taken from Tribology Letters, 2011, 42, 275-284) and simulated data for 150 nm scratching depth with a 60 degree negative rake angle tool. 3) Simulated cutting and normal forces for a 30 degree negative rake angle tool at scratching depths of 100 nm, 150 nm and 200 nm. 3) Simulated cutting and normal forces for a 10 degree negative rake angle tool at scratching depths of 100 nm, 150 nm and 200 nm. 4) Deformed layer thickness at different depths of nano-scratching with 10, 30 and 60 degree negative rake angle tools.
