In this study, we used 454 pyrosequencing of internal transcribed sequence 2 (ITS2) to study the taxonomical composition fungal communities associated with barley grain harvested in Russia in the 2014 and 2015 years. The aims of this study were (i) to completely revise taxonomical variety of fungal communities colonizing surface and inside of barley grains in a north-western region of Russia and (ii) to compare standard agar plate method and contemporary method based on 454 pyrosequencing of ITS2.
