This guidebook provides photographs and descriptions of the shells of 261 species of mollusks found in North Carolina's estuaries and oceans. It includes an introduction to the reproduction, feeding, locomotion, reproduction, and identification of bivalves and gastropods, and to the study and collection of shells. Also included are a descriptive guide to bivalve and gastropod families, a glossary of terms, an index to common and scientific names, and a bibliography.
