Digital travel sales in India amounted to 1.14 trillion Indian rupees in 2016. This figure was estimated to reach over 2.6 trillion rupees by 2021. The rise of digitization in the country was led by tier two and three cities with internet penetration at nearly 50 percent in 2019.
