The gut microbial community plays a key role in the gut-brain axis, and alterations in its ecological niche may affect brain function through neural, hormonal and immune pathways. In the group's previous studies, 17-methyltestosterone (MT) has been shown to cause damage to the gut and brain tissues. However, the underlying pathogenesis is unclear and effective mitigation strategies are lacking . In this study, we systematically evaluated the effects of combined exposure to MT and vitamin C (VC) on the gut and brain of crucian carp (Carassius auratus auratus) by exploring the mechanisms of the microbiota-gut-brain axis, and proposed VC as a potential protective strategy.
