In this proposal, we aim to investigate the local structure and electronic states of the AV3Sb5 family of kagome superconductors (with A = K, Rb, Cs) through X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). These materials are at the forefront of condensed matter research due to their unique coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and charge density wave (CDW) states. Our study seeks to elucidate the intricate relationship between local structural distortions and the emergent quantum phenomena within these kagome lattices. Specifically, we will employ Sb K-edge and V K-edge XAS to gain detailed insights into the nanoscale structure and electronic valence states of these superconductors across the CDW transition. The goal is to quantitatively assess how local distortions and orbital hybridizations influence the CDW and SC phases, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of these quantum materials.
