资源简介:
This dataset accompanies the research work of the original research article on “Urban mitigation pathways coupled with quartiles of performance and co-benefits” (Kılkış, forthcoming). The 43 datasheets in this dataset are organised into six main domains that span urban emissions and land use efficiency (LUE) scenarios by quartiles of performance in a multi-dimensional index. These are namely the quartiles of the challenged, solution-seeking, transitioning, and pioneering cities in the Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) Index. The datasets involve relevant urban-level data and extend to contributions to increments of global warming, additional scenario analyses, and health co-benefits as follows:
The first domain with four datasheets contains annual urban emissions data for three urban emissions scenarios (SSP1-1.9, SSP1-2.6, and SSP1-RE) for 97 urban areas. The data is summed to obtain cumulative urban emissions between 2020 and 2050 per urban area as well as quartiles of performance based on the multi-dimensional SDEWES Index.
The second domain with 12 datasheets provides the contributions to increments of global warming under the three urban emissions scenarios (SSP1-1.9, SSP1-2.6, and SSP1-RE) between 2020 and 2050 for the 97 urban areas and by quartiles of performance. The results are provided considering the best estimate of the transient climate response to cumulative carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions (TCRE) and its 5-95th percentile range.
The third domain with five datasheets gives the annual CO₂ sequestration penalties of four land use efficiency scenarios (LUE 5%, LUE 15%, LUE Av, and LUE Best) for 71 urban areas. The data is summed to obtain cumulative CO₂ sequestration penalties between 2020 and 2050 per urban area and according to quartiles of performance.
The fourth domain with 15 datasheets provides the contributions to increments of global warming under the four land use efficiency scenarios (LUE 5%, LUE 15%, LUE Av, and LUE Best) between 2020 and 2050 for the 71 urban areas and quartiles of performance. The results are given for the best estimate of TCRE as well as its 5-95th percentile range.
The fifth domain with four datasheets contains normalised data for the SDEWES Index for existing and future possible levels of performance for the 97 urban areas. The future scenarios consider near-term convergence and coupling in a scenario-driven approach. An identification of the indicators with changes in this latter approach is also provided.
The sixth domain with three datasheets contains the total annual PM₂.₅ emissions, the annual average PM₂.₅ concentrations, and the potential of saving human lives based on better air quality for 97 urban areas and their analyses by quartiles of performance.
The data structure is described in the information sheet and the 43 datasheets contain a total of 87,065 cells. The formulations that utilise the data are described in the original article submitted to Energy.
