In 2022, Germany remained the largest market for heavy commercial vehicle sales, with some 55,000 vehicles. The country was also the third-largest European market for commercial sales in 2022. Despite its leading status in new heavy commercial vehicle registrations, Germany saw a slight decline in registrations from the previous year. France -the second-largest market in terms of new commercial heavy vehicle registrations -witnessed a rise of two percent in registrations between 2021 and 2022. The United Kingdom, on the other hand, experienced a substantial increase of 13 percent as compared to the previous year. In 2021, the UK faced uncertainty due to a feeble Brexit deal.In 2020, the shift in new vehicle registrations correlated with the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic. In the first quarter of 2020, truck manufacturers were forced to shut down production plants in Europe. However, figures for 2021 and 2022 show signs of revival; there has been an overall increase of seven percent in new heavy vehicle commercial registrations in the entirety of Europe.
