We hypotheize that the human RPE undergoes transcriptional changes with increasing age. To test this hypothesis we isolated RPE from human donors with different ages and performed high-throughput RNA sequencing. We isolated the RPE (macular and periphery combined) of one eye from 13 human donors. Donors had no reported retinal pathology and ranged in age from 31 to 93. RNAseq was performed and then for every gene we analysed the correlation between the gene's expression and age.
